What not to do
The service they performed on my vehicle had to be redone. My car was actually used as a "what not to do" training workshop for their automotive technicians.
FORGOT TO PUMP OIL INTO MY ENGINE
So I brought my 2018 Impreza in to Carter Subaru for the 30K service, which includes an oil change. A couple of hours later, I check out and go to leave. I get 2 blocks toward I-5 and the oil light comes on, the check engine light comes on, and the car starts shaking. Thank God I hadn't made it to the freeway or my daughter wasn't driving. I manage to make it back to the dealership, and as I pull in, my car dies. I go into the office and tell them what happened, and they go out to look at it. Several minutes later I go out to the lot to see what's going on, and there is a team of mechanics and a supervisor standing around my car looking like they'd been caught with their pants down, pushing it into another spot.Guy comes over and tells me there's an oil pressure issue, they're going to have a m,aster tech look at it in the morning.OK fine. Next day I get a call, they'd reviewed the video, and their techs FORGOT TO PUMP OIL INTO MY ENGINE BEFORE THEY SENT ME ON THE ROAD. Engine needs to be replaced and it's going to be about a week and a half for them to work with their insurance company and I'm going to have to stay in the loaner. I told them to buy the car back from me, I don't want it, pay off the year left on my lease, fix it on your time instead of mine. Nope. They've decided it's OK if they just replace the engine and leave me driving around in a loaner for an extended period of time. They have chosen to do the BARE MINIMUM in resolving the situation, based on what their insurance will pay for, not on what they should do. It's really too bad for them, because I would have been their fiercest advocate if they had done the right thing.
I recently purchased a car from Carter Subaru, and right off the bat, it wasn't the greatest experience. The gentleman helping me didn't seem interested to sell me the car at all and knew absolutely nothing about the car. I called in to schedule the test drive and when I arrived the car was very dirty. You would think if you're trying to sell a car you would have it looking its best.
Class Act top to bottom.
In 40+ years of buying cars, this was may first experience with buying a used car from a dealer. From the moment I met the Sales Person Hussein until when I walked out the door with the keys, I felt calm and relaxed and honestly felt like these people cared and this car wasn't even a Subaru! I don't write a lot of reviews on the internet but this place deserves one. I could only imagine what it would be like if I bought a new car there. Go see Hussein!
Thank you so much for the kind words! We're so glad you had a great experience with us!
Bad experence and forced to say good job
I bought a Subaru and they could not clean off my wheels. During the buying process all they could say is we will not except anything less 100 percent. I rate them as not offering what they said would was not offered to me. I switched to Marysville because of all they wanted to do is sell sell. They lied to me and I am so sorry to buy from CARTER I will never buy from them again.

Goe See Joe
We narrowed our car search down to a couple Subaru models, and then used a local, unsanctioned Subaru website to research all the tradeoffs and options. When it came time to snag a specific car, we got quite a range of quotes from Western Washington dealers. Joe Spitz, at Carter Subaru Shoreline, offered a discounted price that was far less than the next lowest quote for the same car. His proposal wasn?t even in the same league as the much higher fixed prices used at some Subaru stores. So we got the exact vehicle package we were seeking, for a model that is in very high demand, and paid a deeply discounted price that made a joke of the ?true? car values listed by the various car buying websites. I have pretty high expectations when I?m about to be parting with a lot of money. Our sales consultant, Joe Spitz, impressed me as the kind of guy who eats, sleeps, and loves the Subaru brand. Joe not only exceeded all my expectations, but he also significantly lessened the amount of money I had to part with :)! His candid and thorough response to my questions, and his use of just the right amount of humor, made the buying process downright enjoyable. He has really earned my respect. Without reservation, I?d suggest that anyone in the market for a Subaru ?Goe see Joe? - at Carter Subaru in Shoreline.
Purchasing new 2014 Forester
Pricing was identical to another Dealer and not the Ballard Store. Dealing with 7 different Dealerships and I believe there is price fixing among them. When they say they are showing you their "Invoice cost" and then reducing the price below that how can that be? The Dealer cost or Invoice is not what the Dealership actually pays Subaru Factory.
My wife and I searched for months for a gmc yukon or Chevy Tahoe that would suit our needs. We did find it via cars.com at Carter's in shoreline. They didn't budge at all on sticker price and low allied me on my trade in. However they knew we had just driven for four hours to get there so they had us where they wanted us. We weren't about to drive back home with our old truck. Anyway ended up buying it after much hesitation because of the lack of movement on the price we got it home and loved it till the next day when the Yukon wouldn't start because the battery was dead. Had to have someone come over and change that out because I had no way of getting anywhere. They had to have known that the battery was bad and just charged it enough to get it off the lot. Would not send anyone I know to deal with what is the ideal "car salesman".
Car of my dreams...
I found a used car online thru cars.com and visited the Carter Subaru site, hoping to purchase the vehicle, which I did. The salesperson was very helpful and knowledgeable, the finance department worked their magic and found financing that fit within my terms, the vehicle was cleaned and looked like new and when I mentioned that I had e-mailed the dealership thru cars.com with no response within 24 hours, both the salesperson and the finance officer jumped on it and contacted the marketing dept to make sure they were aware. I am more than satisfied with my vehicle purchase and would definitely go to this dealership if and when I am ready to make another vehicle purchase.
