On the evening of December 22nd, Our 2011 XC60 was towed by AAA to West County Volvo garage for repair. We knew it needed as a minimum a new battery as the battery shorted out, but the alternator was checked out (by AAA) and it indicated no problems with the alternator and electrical system. On the 23rd I received a call from Volvo service) stating that it in fact the auto needed a battery before any other diagnose (?) could be accomplished. However, the AAA tech checked out all systems with one electronic meter while it was attached to the “shorted battery” with the car running. I can understand Volvos’ thorough diagnose of any problem. However, Why was I charged for two separate actions ($77.50-battery test) and an additional ($77.50 for the remainder of the electrical system). With any auto shop the battery/electrical test is normally part of the battery cost. On top of that we were charge $225.00 for the battery. Checking around the battery charge and diagnose on the high end should be in the neighborhood of $150-$200 retail. I am aware that dealerships normally charge a higher price because of higher profit margin(?) or (???), but I believe that a dealership should be aware of customers thoughts in the maintenance costs. The entire bill for a battery and service at Volvo was $442.50. This is an exorbitant price and makes one have second thoughts on the next Volvo to be purchased and especially from this dealership. As I mentioned to the service manger that we are in the market for a new auto as we normally purchase a new car every 100,000 to 120,000 miles. Of the 4 autos (SUVs) we are considering, Volvo was first on the list, now it is 4th. That is mainly because of the above experience and other Volvo owners we spoke with. However,I suggest that they at least remove the sign that states complimentary car wash with any service or words to that affect. Our auto was not washed. So buyer beware when interfacing with this dealership.

The service department at West County Volvo has always been thorough and personable, but Dan Kitchel put extra effort into solving a problem I had beyond the routine maintenance issues. Would highly recommend this dealership.

The folks at this dealer fall short across the board. Once they sell you a car you are on your own. The service department is overworked. The facilities are sub par. It is like a bad Ford dealership.

I have nothing but positive things to say about my recent experience at West County Volvo. It was my first time visiting this dealership, and I couldn't be happier with my time spent there. My salesman, Tom, was great! Knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful but not pushy at all! He made sure to understand exactly what I was looking for and what lifestyle I was trying to get a car to compliment, then he searched the inventory to find the perfect match! The rest of the staff was great as well and took wonderful care of me. There were no games, no drama and overall the process from the initial greeting to driving off the lot in my new car was very smooth. If you are in the market for a Volvo, this is definitely the place to go.

Tom Calkins was amazing. Efficient, friendly, knowledgeable and considerate. Great experience working with Tom who sold me my first Volvo over 26 years ago! Also was fortunate enough to meet and work with Audrey Suntrup, who is the resident Genius. She walked through all of the cars features with me in detail and got me all set up so all I needed to do was put the car in drive and pull it off the lot. Went to West County Volvo and bought a car with assistance from a very professional salesman named Jim Portner who listened to what I wanted and what I could afford then found a car in inventory that just about perfectly matched what I had asked for. This is what car shopping should be: ENJOYABLE! Fair deal for both of us; very efficient as well. Great experience.

My experience with West County Volvo was like no other. Customer Service was remarkable, not once did I at all feel “pressured” to make a purchase. Sales Representative John Fitzpatrick is very knowledgeable with the Volvo brand and answered any questions that I had with each vehicle I test drove. His patience and expertise was instrumental in helping me to make what I felt was a perfect purchase. I will most defiantly refer family and friends to this dealership.
