They had us go through the whole process, find the car, get approved—and all was completed, agreements for down payment, total loan from a bank of their choosing—then scheduled bringing the car and suddenly texted us that car was sold. So they either have multiple people on the same car or taunt you with the perfect deal to apply, only to find the car either doesn’t exist or was sold. Whatever the case, it’s dishonest business.
BEWARE! Shift Failure to Pay/Still waiting
It’s really unfortunate that Shift has soured our experience so thoroughly. Shift purchased & picked up our 2020 VW Atlas Cross Sport 12 days ago for $37,800. Everything was super easy & we were reassured that our payment would be sent within 24-28 hours. The following day our vehicle was mechanically expected and by the end of that day we had confirmation that all was in order and the payment was on the way. We had previously linked the ACH payment app Plaid with the Shift rep present and had confirmation that all was in order. Since that time we have been constantly mislead with changing stories & flat out deception. We were told “we do not know why you have not received the payment” while blame was suggested to be on our bank. We have used Plaid before without a hitch and that just didn’t make sense. Come to find out all this time the payment simply had not been sent. We learned this only because our normal support advisor was on another call and the person we were speaking with while waiting confirmed that it just hasn’t been sent & had no idea why. We were then promised that a wire transfer would be sent that day by 2pm. We demanded that we receive the confirmation # for the wire yesterday and were promised that again that it would be sent and we would receive the confirmation. 2pm passed and we heard nothing. I left multiple messages via email and voice mail wanting to know what happened. This morning I spoke to yet another representative who let us know that the previous support person was unavailable. The current promise is that a wire is scheduled for today and we should receive the funds by Tuesday or Wednesday. So that will be a minimum of 12 business days to receive payment instead of the promised 3. Issues come up we get it. But this was not some glitch in the transfer of funds. This was a conscious decision by shift to hold payment for some reason. Not sure if they are trying to manipulate their accounting numbers or if it’s a matter of a cash crunch or something else, but the level of dishonesty & disregard for the customer deserves to be brought to the light of day. From the beginning we could have just been asked “Hey do you mind if we push your payment out to the 1st of next month for a business reason”? We seriously would have been fine with that. The issue is the changing stories & later confirmed deception. We literally initiated the process of a purchase of one of their cars & were going to be a great customer on both sides of their business model. All we received was an apology from a front line rep. How could we do business with them ever again? After reading this How could you?

The Shift experience is Great!!
My wife and I had gone to the dealerships and spent a whole day looking at trucks by the time we found one we liked we had to get home to our kids. I told my wife about shift and the truck I saw on it she said let’s try them. So I asked to see the truck set up a time for the next day and they brought it to me. The gentleman told us to take a look we liked it and took the kids for a drive to see how it ran. It was good to in our front room we did the deal no high pressure sales it was very comfortable and easy to do and we never left our house. We will use Shift again.
Beautiful 2019 RAM 1500 Big Horn
I sold and bought a truck from Shift on the same day, and the whole process couldn’t have gone any better. I was helped by Art in the Carson store. Art was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and never once made me feel at all pressured. Shift gave me top dollar for my 2016 RAM, and a better than fair price on a beautiful 2019 RAM. Their vehicles are all in tip-top condition, and what you see on line is what you’ll see in person. I will definitely visit Shift for all of my future vehicle purchases, and recommend them to all of my friends and family.
Management doesn't answer so if there's a problem you're stuck. I don't know why their customer service got so bad. They changed their offer a bunch of times.
Easy to Use
SHIFT was the easiest car purchase I have made ever. I found the car on line, filled out the request and set an appointment. The SHIFT employee drove the car to my house, explained the car's attributes, let me drive it and then when I decided to purchase, completed the transaction in my kitchen. I doubt I will ever purchase another car from any other place!
This dealership is for people who want an enjoyable experience buying a car. Who don't want to be pressured into making a financial mistake. 10 out of 10!
