Took my hybrid in for annual service and reported an issue with the charger becoming paused for no apparent reason on a sporadic basis. The diagnosis attempt was to plug it into a 120V charger and report it charged, I spoke with Volvo corporate who opened a case on the issue. I spoke with Katie Murphy, service manager, who was very pleasant and rescheduled the car for more in-depth diagnostics. The first appointment had to be canceled as they only have one mechanic certified for hybrids and he was unavailable, Rescheduled for a time that worked with my schedule, about two weeks out. They did offer a shorter time but I couldn't be there due to other commitments. Upon arriving, I am told they will not be able to get it in until the next day, so I took the loaner and left planning on returning the day after tomorrow. (I live 50 miles away so try to coordinate to minimize the two hour round trips.) I got a call same day to verify my phone, iOS, and Volvo app version, which I did. I had reported an additional issue with the app reporting multiple times that the car was fully charged. I gave them a typed document that outlined both problems in detail to simplify the communication of the problems. At approximately 4:00, or less than two hours later I was notified by the app that my car was unlocked, and it showed my car in their rear parking lot. It would have been there for some time as the unlocked notification is not instant. At 7 when it was still there I locked it remotely so it was not unlocked in an unattended rear lot. 7 am the next morning I had a call it was finished, I picked up the car. The settings had been blown in updating the software, and did not show my Sirius radio anymore, When I asked Doug he told me to reload my phone app like the paperwork said and to reload my personal settings. No guidance on the Sirius issue, and did not even get off his stool to look. When I got home I realized they had eliminated the original paused charging from the service order and only dealt with the repeated app message. I reapplied the Sirius app and had it restore, but astonishing that this wasn't offered as a solution. Condescending and not service oriented at all. We own three Volvos and as Dean is the only option in St Louis for a Volvo dealer will begin researching other dealerships within 100 miles rather than deal with Doug again.

We worked with Volvo Technician help desk and they gave us the information on what to do to solve this issue. The charging issue was brought up to them as well and was told removing the app should fix that as well. You were informed when you dropped the car off that it might take another day to complete and we did give you a free loaner car to use while we were looking at yours. The repairs that were done were done at the direction of Volvo not just us doing something. I do not see anything that would cause you to give such low ratings.

I was told my car would NOT go into the shop until the next day so had arranged my schedule accordingly, which was then upended. You did leave my car unlocked in a semi-secluded un-monitored parking lot overnight, which I guess is dealer practice since you did not address this, I did not lock it until three hours after it was there, and the dealership was closed. The complete unwillingness to even look at the car when I reported that Sirius was not showing as a media option is also not addressed. The lack of documentation on the paperwork regarding the charging issue, presents an issue for a trail for future work as well as documenting it occurred while in-warranty. The loaner car was pre-arranged, and the service appointment would not have been made without it due to the nearly 100 mile round trip from my home to the dealership. Basically you were not responsive, again, to my concerns.

I was the one that set up your appointment and got your car in earlier than you were told so that I could respond to the case you have open with Volvo. Aas far as leaving your car unlocked we do have 24 hour surveillance on our lots that are monitored and I think your car was left inside overnight. I will speak with Doug on the handling of the Sirius issue as that is unacceptable. According to Volvo all the issues you were having was related to what we did to fix it.

I was apparently unclear on the change in servicing time. With no notice, I now had to change my schedule to pick up my car that day or pay $50 for the loaner as I would not have returned it within 24 hours of notice of completion, giving me a burden not a boon. As the car was parked outside by 4 pm the previous day, and not moved, I could have been notified with 24 hours to change my schedule. Instead, in an apparent passive aggressive move, I was notified 15 hours later to force me to scramble. While I work for myself, I have clients to whom I have responsibility. I checked the car location at 10 pm with the app and it was still outside. Unfortunately, it appears you are trying to gaslight the fact reported by the app, which never lost connection with the car during your software upgrade, It is about the perception of service. One day notice to cancel due to the dealership only having one mechanic certified on hybrids. Less than 12 hours notice to pick up the car early. Refusal to even walk over to the car. Prior appointments have had the same notification that you could not get the car in until the next day, which is fine as I have a loaner so am not hampered, and have time to arrange my schedule. This has been true more than once. A cynic would say it was done the same day to avoid reporting to Volvo that you did not service or even look at the car on the day of appointment. Communication and willingness to address the customer concerns are critical to a positive experience.

Courtney sold us a car with no spare tire, tire jack and lug wrench. Our tire popped a few miles after we left the dealer and that was when we found out of the scam, she said “welp you left the dealerships, not our fault”. To add the wheel wells were damaged and only revealed themselves after we drove off the lot. Predatory and unsafe business tactics, will never be coming back.
