Cars on the lot
CarMax is a flipping joke. Wish I never purchased a car from them. They are full of excuse of why my plates are not in. Telling me to go to the local tax office to get temp tags BS. The worst part is sold me a vehicle with old tires so much for that 150 inspection. Please
They do not care about your time.
CarMax does not do their paperwork. Took 4 months and 3 trips to the county tax office to get temp plates, before CarMax got me my license plates. To top it off, when I finally did get them at the end of November the paperwork said the plates were issued in October. CarMax had them and did not mail them for a month.
Avoid this CarMax North Austin
I regret not doing my research on CarMax location from the beginning. I have never had so much difficulty calling a store and not having anyone answer. It didn't matter which department I called no one would answer, even the service department's voicemail is full. I know all the sales personnel make a set amount and are not based on commission but I can tell you how disappointed I am when you are misinformed on what their CareMax warranty covers. It does not cover hybrid batteries so don't waste your time if that is what you want. I called the manufacturer who provides the warranties and they told me they do not cover it. Now I can't get anyone to call me back about my plates. I am so frustrated!!!!!!!!!!!
Salesman Todd was awesome. But we were there to just sell...
Salesman Todd was awesome. But we were there to just sell my truck. I had been in earlier to have it appraised and I naively thought this would make things faster. Because we weren’t buying, we sat for 2 hours until everyone else was done and the clerk was abrupt borderline rude. 2 hours for a simple short transaction. Not very considerate at all. I won’t buy there again.
Horrible experience - THE WORST
I had a car delivered to this location. Due to COVId I wanted to do everything remote/contactless. I was in touch with my rep the entire time. He told me I have 7 days to make up my mind. I went and viewed the car and had financing all lined up. The day prior to the 7 days, I contacted the rep asked a couple of questions and then agreed to purchase. The rep went quiet for a little while and then came back and told me the car had been sold that morning. Mind you this is a very rare and unique car. I asked how did that happen when I had it delivered and it was on hold for me. He then shared that in fact a hold is only good for 3 days and he misinformed me. No one called to double check with me. The car had not been sold, it had been put on a truck to be delivered across the country. The company offered to waive a delivery fee on any other car, but they don't have another one. Now, the really odd thing is they are willing to waive a delivery fee and tell me I am at a loss because of their mistake, but thus far they are not willing to cancel the process for the next buyer, return it and sell it to me. What they claim they cannot or will not do, they are doing to me. The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. Their operations are a disaster and they clearly do not value customers.
Worse car buying experience...
This was the worst car buying experience. They will lie to sell a car. I brought a car here at the end of February as of today I have driven the car maximum of 7 days. Took them a month to replace the sunroof and none of the other issues were addressed, picked up the car after hours and I live in Temple. Had to pull over air up the front tires, airbag light, breaks, airbag sensors light came on after airing up tires. Took it back 4 days later with a list of things kept it for 2 weeks and it still not right. I contacted corporate and now it's at a GM dealer where it should have gone in the first place, still with electrical issues and break problems. I will never buy a car from you half-xxx people again. I should sue for letting me drive off with an unsafe care.No inspection was done on this car and lies and times spent. My gut I should have listened to. I have been without a car since January 6th when a deer totaled out my car and rolled into a xxxx nightmare with CarMax. Update 5/13/2020 back in the shop for the 4th time. Transmission issues when I addressed this issue with you all, you were saying it was the transmission fluid, no its the xxxx transmission it's self, noise y'all claim that you all didn't hear, it was the struts. I hope the Killeen store can get this car repaired because this makes no xxxx sense. I am a nurse that does home health care, you don't promise that you will do something and then start lying because the repairs are adding up, you stick by your promise...
Brought in My Car for Service and Never Heard Back
I made an appointment and waited three weeks to bring my car in. When I got to my appointment at 9:30 a.m. they told me they would look at it and give me a call. I heard nothing and around 4:00 p.m. began calling. I could never get through to a person and was forced to leave a message. It is now noon, the following day, and I have called 10 times and still never heard from anyone. This is the worst service on the planet. I would not buy a car from them again and would never take my car to their service department again. If you are thinking about doing business with Carmax, just say NO! David J. Harter Hutto, Texas
Bad Customer Service
Went there looking for a vehicle I had seen online. Walked the lot didn't see it. Asked a sales person if it was no longer available, he said it was in the back. I asked him if he could bring it around so I could look it over and test drive it. His response was " are you serious about buying it, because I'm a bit busy and don't want to bring it around if you're not going to purchase it." I told him to bring it up, then he says it's at the shop getting worked on because there was an issue with the engine. Needless to say I turned and walked off. NEVER GOING BACK, NEVER GOING TO RECOMMEND THIS PLACE..
Beware of CarMax Austin. They clearly undercut Edmunds and Kelly Blue Book on appraisals by thousands of dollars. No discussion about the offer — even after we pulled up the Edmunds estimate on the computer to reveal the discrepancy.
Just lost a loyal customer
My wife and I were looking specifically for a Subaru Outback. We'd had good experiences with CarMax so that was our first stop. We were greeted by "sales manager" Bob- oh sure- all of our Subaru's are on row "D". Not, "Oh, let me check our inventory" or "May I offer you a ride?", just oh yeah, row "D". Not only were there no Outbacks, there were no Subaru's, period- and we looked at every car on rows A, B, C AND D. When we got back to the office, I walked up to Bob and thanked him for the wild goose chase. "Oh, but you said you wanted to walk the lot to see what was available." Nope, not what I said. And he never once apologized or said that he might have been mistaken. He insisted on blaming us instead. CarMax North Austin has lost a loyal customer.
