Bought my Optima new in 2013 with 14 miles on it. Today, I have 101,500. No complaints with my car or Kia as ALL recalls have been taken care of timely. My biggest recall was 5 years ago...I had no problems with the engine but Kia sent me a notice to get it checked out, so I took it in. Kia found an issue and they replaced the engine and paid for the rental car for the 4-6 weeks I was in it. The color of my car is "Remington Red" and it's still bright and shiny with no signs of peeling. No complaints on the gas mileage. The only complaint I have is, when I needed to put the back seats down to be able to haul a rolled rug home a couple of times, the opening between the trunk and the downed seats is not very large opening and the back seats do not lay flat...besides that I've been very happy with my Optima. Now would be a good time to trade it in because of the used sedans are in demand BUT I don't want a car payment again!

I have a 2013 optima that I bought in 2019. Had no issues with the car since that time other than having to add oil/change far too often. Then suddenly, without ANY warning when my husband was driving it, he was stopped at a traffic light and when he tried to accelerate once the light changed, hot air started blowing out of the vents and it smelled like sulfur and burning electrical wires. The car just shut off completely. He was able to safely push it off to the side of the road and check oil, battery and fluids. Everything was where it needed to be. Had to get the car towed to a local shop. This happened Wednesday April 27 and today is Tuesday May 3. The mechanics have been working on it since and have ruled out the starter, alternator, battery and timing belt. They said they have to bench test a couple other things before contacting Kia for a possible engine failure. I love the car, though! I have not had any issues with it and this was all very sudden to me since I drive it every day for work. Car does get excellent gas mileage and is comfortable and easy to get used to driving. However, with all the reported issues with the engine failures and fire(s), I would not recommend getting an Optima unfortunately.
